Worst Experience Ever
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Portland Thriftlodge for one night. There was a domestic violence situation in the room above us and we called the front desk to complain. The clerk treated it as if it was a usual occurance. The morning of our check out a my boyfriend noticed a condom wrapper in between the bed and the nightstand which clearly indicated that the room had not been cleaned the night of our check in. When we complained to the front desk clerk about the condom wrapper he merely slid a card across the counter and told us tomorrow we would have to call the owner. When we told him this was something we thought the owner should know about immediately he verbally assaulted us calling us morons.
As we were sitting in our car ready to leave the parking lot we noticed an obvious prostitue with her "client" trying the doors to the rooms to see if any of the doors had been mistakenly left open. I immediately called the police. I then called the Travelodge customer service number. Travelodge gives Thriftlodge its franchise license. I made a formal complaint to Travelodge. When we returned home we called the owner of Thriftlodge to make a formal complaint to him about the uncleaned room, his employee and the blatant prostitution. I asked for a refund. He became very upset and told me my complaints did not warrant a refund. I have been consistent in pursuing the matter by calling the Oregon State Department of Health who is now involved in an extensive investigation of the goings on at the Portland Thriftodge.
