Very Enjoyable and Relaxing!
This was our first visit to this Resort. We traded our Lake Arrowhead Timeshare Condo week. I had read some of the previous on-line reviews after I booked the week and almost cancelled, but decided to give the place a chance. It turned out to be a good move for us. The Valets, Bellmen and Front Desk were very friendly, helpful and pleasant. Our room (1 Bedroom) was on the 7th floor and was very comfortable. There was a view of the pine trees, and a very limited view of the lake. If you are looking to be within walking distance of the lake, restaurants and casinos, you probably shouldn't stay here, unless you are young and in excellent physical shape. The way back is all uphill and over a mile. We drove here and had our own car. This resort is very relaxing and in a really beautiful setting. I imagine this location would be perfect for skiers and snow boarders, but we were here in late September, no snow yet. We were told the hotel recently had a complete renovation. The bed (queen) was new and very comfortable, as was the entire room for 2 people. We did not use the very large spa in the bath room, but preferred the shower since the spa took about a half hour to 45 minutes to fill. We were able to connect our wireless laptop in our room but were told we could only use wireless in the lobby and the 6th floor rooftop at check-in. Our room overlooked the 6th floor rooftop so maybe that is why we were able to get it in the room. The Lobby is on the 5th floor. We are retired (60's) and have stayed at many Marriott hotels/resorts as my wife worked for Marriott for many years. I would not rate this as a 5-star resort, due to the lack of a 24 hour restaurant with room service and a very small pool and spa. We did not try the restaurant that is only open for breakfast. I would have preferred a full kitchen since we were here for a week. We did bring a medium sized ice chest but found the small refridgerater adequate. We purchased soups at a local market that we heated in the microwave and french bread to make sandwiches for lunch and snacks . A bar that stayed open in the afternoon and evenings would have also been a plus, especially if you have friends in the area who want to come and visit you at the resort. We did drive to the beach, casinos and restaurants daily. Carson City and Reno are an easy drive and have a lot of history for 1st time visitors. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a family with small children. The teen agers would probably be very bored in the summer, but it is a great place for a relaxing stay. I have no problem recommending this hotel.
