Cheapest place & close to NYC

It was the cheapest hotel we could find that was close to the PATH trains taking you directly into NYC. The room is a typical motel type room so don't expect anything fancy. The bed mattress was just OK. The staff was extremely helpful and nice as well as the cleaning staff. They do offer free coffee and pastries pretty much all day, which is nice. Plus free wireless internet.
The PATH train is about a 10 minute walk and there is a mall next to the hotel as well. The trains take you directly to Madison Square gardens or to Ground Zero, where it's easy to connect to other subway lines. If you're on a budget and think that $300 for a basic room in NYC is ridiculous, I would definately recommend this hotel. I ALWAYS felt completely safe walking at nightime from the train to the hotel.
