I had previously avoided Bangkok like the plague. When forced to stay overnight due to a flight schedule change, I reluctantly stayed at the nearest hotel to the airlines head office (across the street from Korean Air). Out of a two week stay in Thailand, the 24 hours based at the Narai Hotel on Silom Road doubled the entries in my trip journal. Although my backpack seemed conspicuously out of place among the rows of Gucci luggage, I was received as graciously as the international businessman who checked in a moment before. The nearby cafes and shops filled with a truly ecclectic mix of folks made the stay most memorable.
Thanks, I'll see you next January.
