Not a Gold Award Property...
We selected this hotel for its Gold Award and positive reviews. Although others may have had a positive experience, we did not.
On day one, one of the lamps near the bed did not work. However, the clerk fixed it. When we returned after dinner we had a odor in our room that had a unpleasant, due to it being very late we asked to change our room the following morning.
On day two, we simply had them clean the area that had an odor and decided to remain in the room. We came back that night and although they tried to clean that area the smell remains but not as bad, We went to find outlets to charge our batteries and noticed that one of the outlets did not have a cover plate with the electrical wires exposed. (we have pictures).
On day three, we continued to find even more obvious concerns with the room. We got back to the room and found one of the pictures have fell from the wall to the bed. The support screw appeared to be loose. (this picture could have fallen on my son's head! We called them to have this replaced and the clerk told us in 30 minutes, We came back from dinner about 1.5 hours and the picture was repaired. When we called, he asked to have it changed the following day and we agreed and simply place the picture on the side.
The fourth day after we returned to the room, the picture was still not fixed and we simply decided to not bother the front desk. However, a more alarming issue was that we noticed that the smoke alarm was NOT working!!! Not green or red light was on (pictures available). We also searched further and found that their was obvious rust on the inside door hinges and obvious rust on the bathroom ceiling vent. The room had spider webs and on the light switch panel a hole was evident next to the panel. The lamp shades located by the bed were VERY loose.
Although we had all these issues, no one called to follow-up to see of we were okay or if there was anything they could do to make our stay more pleasant.
The rooms are very small... Not enough outlets...
The location was fine and although only one person enjoyed the breakfast for one day only, this was to standard.
My comment is to address the promotion of a Gold Award. Should this hotel continue to advertise this, ownership and Choice quality control needs to take a closer look at the details of each room to ensure that these multiple issues are corrected prior to checking ANY guest into this room
