Stayed here last year & staying again this week.
I don't get it... I think the negative reviewer has never been to Shasta before in the winter? We go there every ski season. This place what the other reviewer's comments say it is... small, quaint, and worth the money. Their rates are less than most anyone else's in town during ski season. The room we stayed in before was small, but comfortable, smelled fine, everything worked and we got just what we wanted. We liked it so much, we're staying there again this Wednesday for an overnight trip. We drive 5 hours to get there, by the way. The proprietors are nice folks, too. Any room anywhere else in Shasta will cost you twice as much...IF... you can get a room. Yes, this is a little bit out of the main town area. Yes, they get snow and ice in their driveway. So does the Mountain Lodge, the Econo, and the Tree House Inn... the whole town gets ice and snow which isn't always cleared off immediately.
If you are looking for some high-end resort... you don't have too many choices in Shasta. If you are looking for a decent room, with clean beds, working showers and heaters, at a very reasonable cost, this is the place. Although you will have to drive into town a very short distance (we're not talking miles here folks) to eat out, this Lodge is located on the way to Mount Shasta and as mentioned before... little traffic... little outside noise and lights.
If I want to stay in a large hotel room with all the extra amenities... gym, large swimming pool, large free breakfast, large room with kids running and yelling up and down the halls, I'll stay in town.
If I want a nice room, that's comfortable, with all the extras I don't need because I'll be out on the hill skiing all day and night, I'll stay here or somewhere similar. It has WiFi too!
