My wife and I just got back last Friday and i'm having my Hawaiian Vacation Withdrawals. We stayed for 6days 5nights. I had my doubts with this place before booking, but that went away when we got there.i'll break up my review for those of you who want to skip to what you want to read: Parking: The parking cost $10 a day for self park or $15 for valet. I can understand Oahu/Waikiki area charging for parking because real estate is scarce, but on Maui? The Parking stalls are small..If you do get a rental just buy the bumper to bumper coverage. Also there is a nightly luau so you have to ether get in early before 5pm or get there right after they leave 915pm. Check in: Check in was painless and they upgraded my room to a Partial ocean view or a ocean front cottage.The staff at the front desk were helpful and not rude at all ( i remember seeing a posting that the staff was rude...maybe those people got fired) Room: we stayed on the 3rd floor which was not bad. The rooms were great! they were standard size but they really spent some money on the renovation. i must say the bed was super super soft. The Interior design of the room was very pleasant. The TV was a Flat screen LCD (32') which sat on the Office desk / Dresser. The lanai was some what small. There are no blinds,just wooden dividers. The room lacked drawer space.and the fridge was really small. THEY CHARGE FOR INTERNET ACCESS! you get 60 min's free every 48 hours. so after you use up your 60 min's it's $9.95 . Restaurant: We had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs on our last day there. The food was really good. My wife had the Mac nut pancakes and i had the buffet. All the food was great, the spread had a lot of variety and all the food was fresh. The staff at the restaurant was very attentive. Watch out if you eat outside...these birds are not afraid to eat off your plate WHILE YOUR STILL EATING! it was cool to watch though. Hotel Grounds: The hotel is Located off hwy 30 at Kekaa Dr.There is a golf course adjacent to the property which is convenient. there are also 9 full size tennis courts. There are two pool, but who would use the pool when the pacific ocean is located 5 feet from the pool!?! The beach is calm and often empty. No problem finding a spot to tan or just fall asleep..that's what i did. The Hotel lobby is furnished with a Hawaiian/ Canoe theme which was pleasant to the eyes...since i'm the subject of pleasant , there is a Pleasant Holiday information desk in the lobby....there is also a competing Expedia information office right outside the front lobby. Luau: I read some bad reviews about this luau. I personally have been to too many Luau's.The luau at the Royal Lahaina was pretty good. They had the all the plots to the luau..the unearthing of the Pig from the emu, the luau demonstration , the Joke telling...which was pretty good... the food and the show. i actually liked this Luau. It got to the Point...The show was great! the Food was better then expected, the mistress of ceremonies was the Best! and the Performers were not bad to looks at...not at all. It was an open bar ...nuff said and if you order a specialty drink it's $15 free refills....just buy one and share it with your friends...thats what the girl next to me did.Good Luau if your staying at this hotel...you get free parking and you can just stumble back to your room! Staff: The entire staff at the Royal Lahaina Resort was fantastic! I do want to give a shot out to the guy working the shack when you first drive in,made you feel welcome...as you drive out he would make sure he gave you a Aloha and a Shaka and as you drove back in he Greeted you with " ALOHA and welcome home" ....very nice touch...i can imagine how boring working the gate shack must be on the swing shift and dealing with tourist everyday and to have that smile and pleasant and welcoming attitude is just ...well the ALOHA spirit. ONE THING I DID NOT LIKE WAS THE ELEVATOR..VERY VERY SLOW.
