We stayed at the Dakota in on a family road trip and stayed in more than a dozen "economy" hotels during our trip so we had a lot of places with which to compare this hotel. This was by far the worst. The rooms were small, the walls were cinderbrick and the rates were at least $30 more a night than comparabley outfitted venues
The complimentary breakfast was stale donuts, bread and cereal. The pool was nice but no nicer than other places we had stayed and not worth the $30 premium over cheaper hotels.
We were told AAA rates were only available weekdays (we stayed on a low traffic Sunday evening)
The on-duty evening desk person was surly and upleasant and at one point as we passed through the lobby we heard the phone ringing off the hook while the desk clerk was out having a smoke.
The place was reasonably clean although not spotless, it was quiet and the beds were OK. What we mainly objected to was the premium rate charged for an outdated facility.
