Peaceful Getaway

We stayed at the Heron House at the end of January. The location is superb, easy walking distance to pretty much anywhere, and the garden is truly relaxing and peaceful. Our room was pleasant and well equipped, although rather dark, and our shower was pitifully underpowered. It took a l-o-n-g time to rinse shampoo out of our hair!
The staff were efficient and courteous, although I wouldn't go so far as to say "friendly", and the rather strict notice in our room, warning us of zero tolerance to loud rowdy behaviour was rather off-putting. (We are not used to having to be warned to behave properly!)
The breakfast was adequate, but nothing to get excited about. (The hot water for tea was far, far from boiling ...) Sarabeth's which is just down the road a few paces serves a far better repast.
We were never informed of wine and cheese in the evenings ... but then the staff all seemed quite distant and stand-offish.
Overall, we would recommend the Heron House. It is clean, quiet, and peaceful, in a good location, but we think the next time we are in Key West we will try another place.
