NOT a luxury hotel unless you live in a Tent.
This is a nice 3 star property; however, don't be fooled by its "Luxury" title. There is not much luxury unless you have never stayed at a true luxury hotel and have nothing to compare it with. The art stores inside are nice and the staff is friendly and tries. Don't stay here for the food, it is OK but other restaurants in town are better and the service was lackluster. It is an old property and it is probably too obvious. We were in a Jr. Suite and it was very small with just enough room for a king bed in one room and a small sitting area. The pillows smelled like they needed to be washed and not just recovered. The spa looked and smelled more like the local gym (which it apparently is) than a luxury hotel spa, however the workout equipment was modern. The pool had too much chlorine and the hot tub water was yellow. It did have very slow free wireless internet if that helps, but the gift store closes at 10pm and there are no vending machines, only very expensive room service. There are probably better places for business travelers to stay. They obviously benefit from having very little competition, but I’ll probably try the Hilton the next time I am in Anchorage.
