Historic, but poorly run
We stayed here in October 2008 and the nights were cool. There was no heat and maintenance was slow to respond. When the radiator worked it was hissing and belching worse than my Aunt Bertha at Thanksgiving dinner. The staff at the front desk said that the radiators did not work most of the time but that they tried to get a little heat out for a few hours each night. The room was dirty, carpet stained, mold and mildew in the bathroom and no hot water without running it for 20 or 30 minutes. The hotel rooms were billed as historic but the furniture is the kind you had in the 1970s and your friends spilled everything on it. The lobby was impressive, the historic aspect very nice, but there were room service dishes sitting out for 2 days on the second floor hallway. I wondered what else traveled the second floor hallway at night! I bought a wonderful quilt at the Hotel Denver and my husband and I huddled under that at night and tried not to think about the sheets.
