I have been using Yakutat Lodge for many years. Prior to the Fanning's takeover it was a dump. Slowly but with sureness it has becoms a rustic, comfortable and quality outback experience.
Cleanliness on the frontier is more a state of mind than or an expectation. Frequent rain, volcanic ash, tired/dirty hunters- fishers, etc etc aren't conducive to making comparison to "The Hilton".
I'v stayed at 'The Hilton' too.
