5-Star Location, But for Horsplayers Only!
Remember we're talking Saratoga, the racing Mecca where "cheap" lodging doesn't exist in-season. (Gave it 5-stars for value only because, by comparison, it is!) Off-season, you'd sooner sleep in the car. (The rooms aren't dirty, they're tired.) But for those 40 glorious days, the Brentwood is a gambler's dream. Nestled across from the backside gate, you awaken to the clipclop of hooves along Gridley Ave. as the game's top horses and their connections go about their morning routine. Adjacent is the Horseshoe Inn, a local's bar that gets sprinkled with the same pixie dust each summer. (Be prepared for the nightly outdoor party.) Park 6 ft. from your door and FORGET the car. Stroll up Nelson, breakfast trackside & TASTE the history. Walk back, handicap or crash and STILL be back for the 1st. (Try THAT staying at the Marriott for $400+ a night!) Going downtown? Like Clemenza says, "Leave the car, take the shuttle." Need more action? Saratoga Raceway & Casino is a mile down Nelson. Bottom line: wife & kids in tow, NO! Alone or with your gamblin' buddies? It's a 5-star flophouse with the best location in town!
