Location, Location, Location
Last weekend my wife and I visited Savannah for a conference at the Convention Center. The bookings for the Westin went quickly and like many we had to book somewhere else. This turned out to be the best blessing we could have imagined. The River Street Inn was recommended to us by a local who said it had all the charm of a B&B with the amenities of a hotel.
After looking at the hotel's website we decided to book the "Family Fun" package which included a river boat cruise, trolley tour and a guided ghost walk. We were told that the standard room for that package was a street view room, but after asking for an upgrade to a river view room the reservationist bumped us up "gratis". A very pleasant start, indeed!
We spent three nights there and couldn't have been more pleased with every aspect of the experience. The front desk staff were most helpful and courteous, just the kind of Southern hospitality one would expect in Savannah!
The best part of all, though, was the location of the Inn relative to all points of interest in Savannah's historical district. Ditch the car, you won't need it. With the included trolley tour even the more distant sites were easily included in our itinerary. Looking out the window onto River Street and the river itself, the rich history of the area could almost be inhaled.
We won't imagine staying anywhere else our next visit.
