Great Place To Stay In Bistrita
The Hotel Bistrita is a nice, clean, serviceable hotel. It is air-conditioned which is really nice, and it now has wireless internet, though the signal is weak and doesn't work well from the room in the wings. There are seating areas on each floor that overlook the lobby and the signal works well there. The rooms have a small refridgerator in them and a television. You can occasionally find CNN International and sometimes there are American and English shows broadcast with Romanian subtitles. We have a group of 40-50 each summer and they do a great job of accomodating us for the week that we are there.
The restaraunt serves a good breakfast buffet and while some things are not what we normally eat in America, they do have eggs (omelets, and fried only I think they fry them in water and not butter). They also have cereal and yogurt. Some of the meats are a little different and I never had fried eggplant for breakfast before but it was pretty good. The cheeses are outstanding.
The hotel is located in easy walking distance to the central business district and government offices. There are a number of restaraunts nearby. I love the city and our stay each year at the Hotel Bistrita is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A couple of them speak some English and all of them understand a little English. They keep some toiletry items at the front desk for a small fee if your forget something like I usually do.
