More than a place to stay.......
First visited Astoria in 1958 and was impressed with the Union Fish Cannery that once was on the Cannery Pier Hotel site well over the Columbia River. Just had the fine fortune of staying a night in wonderful splendor. From our room (111) we had views both up and down the river, observed the river traffic from barges to sea going frieghters, from commercial fishing vessels to pleasure craft and all kinds river wildlife. What a show. And with all this came wine tasting, smoked salmon, cheeses in the evening. Chauffered drive to local restaurants. Morning arrived with a splendid breakfast.
Am already planning a return trip.
Spoiled rotten at a reasonable price.
