Very disappointing

I was really looking forward to staying at this old palace, but was terribly disappointed. The prices they're charging simply don't match up with what you get. We paid something like 6800Rs (US$160 or so) for a dirty, worn-out looking room with cheap fixtures (hello flourescent lights!) and flimsy finishes (thin plastic toilet seat and plastic bathtub). Walls were dirty and knicked, the lampshades were filthy with greasy fingerprints all over them. There was a layer of dust and a pubic hair in the tub - previous occupant was a brunette. The sheets were threadworn and the blankets smelled bad - like body odor and perfume (not mine!). The room we ended up getting was actually better than the one they tried to give us originally - which had no windows in the bedroom area! Service was well-meaning but bumbling. I called for to order room service in the evening, hoping to get it delivered first thing in the morning, but first had to ask menu, then had to haggle with the guy to take my order so I wouldn't have to call again in the morning. In all, totally not worth the money. I doubt the cheaper hotels are any better, but at least they're cheaper. If you want luxury, you're not going to get it here. I changed my flight to an earlier one so I could check out earlier.
