tremendously terrible place
The accommodations and services at the Ranger Inn are horrendous. From sticky carpets that are stained with cigarette burns and vomit belonging to previous occupants, to black mold so pervasive that it will leave you with a headache upon opening the door.
The denizens are a rough and sorted lot with no obvious ambition aside from standing at their motel door cigarette in hand. The fat manager has no idea what customer service means and she seems to have a very limited scope on her behavior towards guests who have no idea what is in for them. In fact, I think she has become so adept at defending the myriad of problems guests complain to her about I doubt she is surprised by anything anyone says about their 'assigned' room at STALAG 17.
The owner, Joel, is a con artist who steals city money under the pretense of housing homeless vagrants while collecting any money he can from the vagrants themselves. And when the vagrants can't pay anymore of their own money, Joel locks them out without notice and steals whatever material possesions that were left behind, and sends them to the homeless shelter. In fact, I question Joel's reputation as a business owner. Any man who would destroy his name by associating it with a motel business that could easily be mistaken for the location of the newest Hostel movie must be questioned.
When staying at hotels/motels I am always on guard for places like this. Many times I have been surprised by the kind of value these places offer and would return without question. However, The Ranger Inn is not one of these decent kind of places and there is absolutely no value there at all.
