Disappointing stay at Windsor
We stayed at the Windsor Inn with our child for 7 days this Spring. I loved the location and the charming feel and the fact that they didn't spray pesticides indoors. I like antique, mature looking interiors. However, some things were just falling apart and in poor condition. Someone else showed me their room in the bottom floor and it was in even worse condition than ours.
In addition, the manager obviously didn't like kids, snapping at ours for asking to turn the channel of the t.v. in the commons room that no one appeared to be watching. The continental breakfast was not very nutritious, consisting of doughnuts and high sugared yogurt. The cereals were o.k., offering some corn flakes in addition to the sugary ones. The danishes provided were the cheap types. The breakfasts are promptly removed, one morning even 5 mins. early but the maids brought back some cereal for me.
We booked a room for 3 people, since they kindly offered a cot for the one queen size bed room. The room was the size of our bathroom at home and the cot literally sagged so much in the middle, it was at 45 degrees in the center. Staff came in and said that's the way it is. Only a child could sleep on a broken cot like that! They didn't tell us that once we put the cot in, there would be no room to even step in the room! So when we tried to check out earlier, the manager insisted we give 72 hr notice. We decided to honor the contract, stayed our 5 days, and gave a notice by telephone and he said it would be o.k. to check out by a certain date. However, when we were checking out, another desk person told us the manager we spoke with charged us for the entire stay because we didn't give notice in time. We concluded that this manager must may be making money from us staying longer or have a mental condition where he really doesn't remember conversations. Regardless, due to our experience, we'll not return to this Windsor Inn.
