Return to Taipei
As an American Expat returning to Taiwan after an 18 yr absence , we stayed at the Santos Hotel since it was near an MRT station and was in the north part of Taipei near where we use to live .The Santos Hotel clientel are primarily Orientals , dominately Japanese , with a few Westerners thrown in for good measure ...The front desk staff was excellent althought there is still a small language barrier when working in English ... The facility was very clean and Restaurants are
ok but again primarily set up for oriental food ..Western dishes come with an oriental twist , not bad but different .The breakfast menu was served buffet style and was a bit limited ( boring ) after a 10 days..The Hotel was normally very quiet except when someone used the bathroom next door .Then it sounded like it was right in our room ...
The MRT Station is about a 5 minute walk and MRT system is super ...Realy great for getting around at a reasonable cost ..Get a an EasyCard if you're going to be there any time ..The 7-11 Store ( next door ) is very convenient for cold drinks and snacks and is much cheaper than using the Hotel's in room bar ...
This is not a fancy Hotel with lots of bars and restaurants ..It is good clean , safe reasonably priced place to stay, with a friendly , excellent staff...
I would stay there again ...EW
