BAD FOOD, BAD ALL-INCLUSIVE DEAL

Let me get to the point..anyone who says food here is good is CRAZY! Both my husband and I eat everything under the sun and we were starving because the food was so bad! Pasta alfredo or bolognese..how can you really screw that up? You can..when you water it down so much it doesnt taste like alfredo or bolognese at all. The protein dishes are bland. Whatever sauces they throw on anything get watered down, thats why everything is bland. The pork chop and beef were a joke..they were tougher than my flip flops. Desserts not good. I dont understand why they cant just have ice cream stations. Its not expensive but everybody likes ice cream. But at least dinner was still better than lunch ..at lunch there were actually lesser options! I ate chips & guac for lunch every day. Breakfast was actually okay overall -- best meal of the day. The "fine dining" restaurants....hahahaha...what a joke. My hopes were crushed when I opened the menu and saw half of the menu has surcharge (anything good like shrimp, steak, tuna has surcharge). How is that really all-inclusive?? Drinks were okay but by no means good. If a restaurant serves you bad food and drinks, you wouldnt go back and pre-pay for all your meals & drinks for the next few days, would you? I hate how they were cutting corners at the cost of taste. You pay less than 10 bucks at Hometown Buffet and the food is decent. You dont need to have expensive ingredients, just make it taste good!! Our friends stayed at Barcelo and we went over..the snacks were better than dinner/lunch combined at Royal Solaris. Drinks were yummy!! Another thing...be prepared how hard they push timeshare here. My "personal concierge" did not let me go to my room until I told him ok but will cancel. The snake evaded me 4 days in a row until on the last day I raised a stink on my way out and demanded for my deposit to be returned. If you're not gonna go, then dont waste time and dont let them trick you into cancelling later. The good about this place: pool & beach was good, although noone took drinks orders on the beach. The kids water park was small but good -- although noone used it during out stay, I guess it was chilly. Service was spotty -- there were some good servers. Beware also of the conversion rate in this place when booking excursions thru them. All in all...this is not a good all-inclusive resort. If you stay here without the all-inclusive deal it is ok, the rooms were clean/decent. About me: Went for a 4 night with husband & 1.5 yr old toddler. This is the 2nd time we've had all-inclusive, first one was in Cancun (Sun Palace) and that was awesome!!
