hungry in paradise
This is a spectacular place with wonderful accomodation and ambience. The Spa is fantastic. Everything is beautiful, expensive and totally worth it.
Where is one supposed to eat? Breakfast is great but after a few days, you've experienced the menu.....likewise the menu in the bar where I actually had to return a Nicoise salad because it had canned tuna....in Hawaii????
The food in the main dining room is very limited in selection and ridiculously high in price. The real kicker for me was the failure of management to enforce the published dress code. Who wants to enjoy a $200 dinner with a fellow guest in an undershirt at the next table?
Be especially wary of the Hana Ranch restaurant which has the food and ambience of a so/so coffee shop. We had very overcooked chicken and a disinterested waiter who hurried us to order. When we lingered to enjoy the music which was great, we received meaningful looks and hints that we should order more. And again....very expensive.
Next time, we'll book a unit with cooking facilities and pick up groceries to bring in. We both lost weight in Paradise!
