The grinches who stole Christmas

Do not go to this hotel. Our experience was horrible. We planned a weekend in SF for our family of 5. We reserved two rooms. When we arrived we were told we could not stay because we could not have three people in one room. No Exceptions! The third person, my youngest child is 8 years old and weighs 48 lbs! They wouldn't let us stay even one night. They told us to come back with one less child and they would let us check in then! We weren't even permitted to go a room to change from our travel clothes. The manager seemed to take great glee in turning us out on the street. She told us many times that she is very strict, yet she had her DOG in the lobby. The dog probably weighs more than my daughter. Why is an exception made for an animal but not for a person? (We took OUR dog to my sister's house for the weekend.) We asked for the manager's help to solve our situation and she offered none, except to lose one of the children. We tried to book a third room but the front desk wouldn't permit it because she said they have another rule that you have to have a 21 year old in the room at all times. My almost 18 year old child wouldn't be responsible, she said. They could not have been more unaccomodating. They even got mad that we parked at the valet spot too long (about 12 minutes), while we were trying to sort out our reservation. 5 days before Christmas and we were told there was no room at the inn, by a grinch! Disappointed, we headed out into the chilly dark, SF streets with our luggage and tried to make reservations at another hotel. We booked Powell Place through our Royal Holiday timeshare so there would be no refund. While we were trying to check in a nice elderly couple came to the desk to drop off their key (keys are attached to very large, heavy weights to force you to return it everytime you want to leave the hotel- very strange.) The people at the front desk exclaimed to them, "we thought you were difficult but you are nothing compared to these people." There seemed to be a constant flurry of people dropping off and picking up their room keys,so each guest was witness to us being turned out. Very embarrassing. Very controlling unpleasant environment. Lacks privacy. Stay here if want your every move to be scrutinized. Not family friendly. Not friendly to anyone.
