...this motel was miserable. The owner was VERY nice, and she bent over backward to please us when the non-smoking room she gave us smelled like an ashtray, but as much as we WANTED to like this quaint little motel (the place is classic Route 66), it was a horrible stay.
The replacement room we were given still smelled of cigarettes, though not as badly as the first. The pool was closed when we visited, because despite daytime temps of over 80 degrees, it was still freezing at night time. The mattress was lumpy, hard, and odd-smelling, and the bed frame creaked every time one of us rolled over. The carpet was ancient, stiff, and smelled vaguely mildewy. The toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom the first time we used it. It took forever for the shower water to get hot, and I never did manage to get hot water out of the sink.
I'm sorry to say it, but until this place gets a MAJOR renovation, it's off our list of places to stay.
