Wonderful escape from the ordinary hotels!

Almost didn't stay here because of some of the views we read, but SOOOO glad we did! The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. The hotel is brimming with antiques and lemon oil! Smells wonderful, a HUGE fireplace greets you just around the corner from check-in, couches, antique chairs and tables placed just perfect and begging you to sit and relax or read for awhile. Sitting areas abound in this hotel. And the entire atmosphere is fascinating. When checking into our room, Rosheller, the lady in charge of rooms on the 4th floor,offered to show us around. She opened dozens of doors for us to see the rooms and suites. They were fantastic! Huge rooms. Lots of beds with canopies and/or step-ups. Gorgeous Furniture. We took tons of pictures. Not just the suites, but of the hallways and "regular" rooms also. She gratiously showed us rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors also. Following that, she introduced us to "Lily" who showed us rooms and Suites on the 1st floor. Almost made us feel like Royalty with their treatment! We checked out the pool. It's not heated, but as warm as the room surrounding it is, you wouldn't know it. Standard size or better and crystal clear! Later in the evening we went to the Lounge. It appears to be a cross between "Cheers" and "Friends" what with all of the couches, antiques, the bar and the Locals!!! In no time at all we felt like we belonged there! We didn't get to meet their "famous" bartender, but Sarah, part of the staff, was filling in for someone else (and doing an excellent job, I must say). The only cons we had were the fact that my husband smokes and he had to go outside since the hotel went totally NON on the 1st of January (except the Lounge), and the fact that it's 4 hours away,lol.We will be back to stay in one of their extraordinary suites... but definitely on the first floor this time so he doesn't have to spend so much time cruising the elevator for his smoke breaks! We had a wonderful time here and hate to think about staying in some other "regular" hotel when we travel elsewhere!
