I live in Colombia and go to San Andres often. I usually stay at the Mar Azul but this time, since the Mar Azul was full I, based on the recomendation of Viva Viajando, chose the Sun Rise. We had an ocean view room and the view was wonderful. However, the service, for the most part left a TREMENDOUS amount to be desired. I was especially disappointed in the wait staff in the restaurant. Usually San Andres Islanders are friendly, talkative and polite. I found, with one lone exception, NONE of that. I also thought that 10,000 pesos for a trip in a hotel taxi to the airport was highway robbery. I also got very, very sick after eating in the restaurant which caused me to throw up in my regulator at 60 feet. The diving is good. We used Louis Banda and thought that he knew all the dive sites. Dont miss the sunken airplane or the sunken freighter. Expect to see a few barracuda and the occasional squid.
