Unsafe, Vandalism, Homeless/Druggies Encampments
My wife and I decided to break up the trip from Los Angeles to Yosemite by staying at the Courtyard Marriott. Our car was broken into while we were in process of going to and from the room with our bicycles and hiking gear. Two digital cameras, one laptop computer, our GPS, backpack(s) and hiking boots were stolen. We looked beyond the fence and saw homeless camps in the bushes just beyond the parking lot (not noticeable when we pulled in at 9pm the night before because lack of lighting) and saw that her running shoes had been discarded. We went around the fence (that had multiple repairs from previous times obvious problems had occurred) and retrieved the shoes. While there, we spoke to some of the unfortunate homeless and they all said it was the drug user who lives next to the parking lot and steals for a living.
This is an obsious pre-existing condition that Courtyard/Marriott management has ignored. I can't imagine what would have happened had my wife encountered this while in process. Further, my home insurance has a high deductible and Marriott has ignored the request for restitution. I am a Gold carrying Marriott rewards member and have been for the last 15 years and have lost complete faith.
I would stay away from this hotel as it is just off the freeway, hard to find and very, very unsafe.
