There was nothing to like about the Rodeway Inn in Montgomery, Al. I had stayed at this hotel five years ago when it was Ramada Inn and it was never as bad as it is now. We arrived to a very dirty room the floors were thick with debris, the room was old and smelled, the only complimentary soap we were provided with was open and used with hairs all mangled through it. The tub was dirty--not stained--dirt was literally in the tub with bodily hairs.
When we called to reserve the room I was told the rooms were freshly remodeled.--Not possible. My wife and I arrived at 5pm and checked in, we new the outside looked run down, but we were on our way to a family gathering and did not check our rooms. We arrived back around 10 pm to find our room was as I mentioned earlier. We were so tired we decided to just ''get through the experience and not get a bath or touch anything we did not need to. We noticed that there was very few rooms rented, but literally car loads of ''people'' and other loiters playing there car radios very loud and we were put in a room all the way around to the back away from the main road. My wife was scared and the noise was so loud we could not sleep. Keep in mind we noticed a police officer patrolling a hotel next door. We laid on top of the sheets scared until 1am when a group of "people" gathered out side our room and were drinking and yelling. We called the front desk and told them we wanted to check out and we would not be paying for the room, we were told to get over it and hung up on. My wife and I threw our stuff in to the car, did not change out of our PJs and went immediately to the front desk. We were once again told to "get over it", we asked for the GM and we were told that we could talk to them but they would tell us the same. The GM approached just as 6 police cars surrounded the front of the bldg and pulled there guns on two of the cars that were parked in front our room and appeared to make several arrest. As a matter of fact our car was blocked in for 30-45 min before we ever got to leave. This seemed to change the GM's mind and she handed us a no balance owed slip. My wife and I scared to death sat in our car until the arrest were made and we were allowed to leave. We drove home at 1am to Anniston, Al-a 2 hour drive. Worst experience of my 39 years of life.
