Overpriced and poor value
Let's make it clear the place is not bad. But first of all (Yahoo take note) the name has changed and it is no longer Le Meridien; the name is Nicon Luxury Hotel. Putting "luxury" into the name sets expectations and this hotel cannot meet them. The place is not 5-star; there are carpet stains, bad paint retouching, slow service, and the general cheap and sub-standard construction one finds all over Africa (but not usually in top hotels). The hotel advertises a gym but it has practically no equipment and it is ALL broken!
Paying nearly $200 per night should guarantee a certain level of quality and when it is not provide one can only feel disappointed. On the positive side, the staff are indeed friendly and the food is okay.
In sum, if you really want a top hotel and are willing to fork out the money, look elsewhere. On the other hand, you can do what I would do (if I weren't here for a conference) and stay in a much cheaper place where you don't have high expectations to begin with, so you won't be disappointed.
