Valhalla's Pretty Good
Valhalla Resort does not give a great impression upon first glance. It's in the middle of a slightly rundown residential neighborhood and doesn't have much of a view. Nevertheless, the cabin in which we stayed was quite clean and comfortable. We had a two-bedroom unit with a fully-stocked kitchen, wood fireplace, large deck with BBQ grill, cable TV and pleasant decor. The resort has a small rec center and heated pool, which did not get used during our cold and rainy weekend!
Valhalla is convenient to downtown Estes and the Beaver Meadows entrance to RM National Park. The price is pretty good, at least during "shoulder" season, before the high prices of summertime kick in. Although we had no contact with the staff during our visit, they answered my questions promptly via email before my arrival and seemed very nice at check-in.
I think Valhalla would be a good value for families visiting Estes.
