Heaven on Earth
Eastport is delightful and the people are swell; I was pleasantly surprised to not encounter any reticence or standoffishness that one might expect in Maine. Eastport is like a little slice of the past - 100 years ago. Water Street, which runs along the bay & where you'll find the Motel East, is quaint, charming & romantic. Once you park your car at the motel you can walk to the Waco Diner or other restaurants & cafes & have a lovely ramble along the waterfront.
The service at the Motel East was superb & Pam at the front desk was enthusiastic & very helpful - just a doll. I've never seen a larger motel room. It was comfortably furnished with wing chairs & a nice round table & a mini-kitchenette - at such a favorable rate! The best part, however, was the view past the french doors & balcony: Passamaquoddy Bay & Campobello Island, Canada beyond. You won't want to leave. If you want to get in the mood before your visit, read Sarah Graves's murder mysteries. Bon voyage!!!
