Overpriced and Underwhelmed
Let me start by saying that I have enjoyed a lot of B & Bs in my adult life - I prefer them to hotels. When I spoke with the B & B rep, they weren't entirely honest about the basic comforts of the property. The rooms are TINY. The beds are TINY. The bathtub is TINY, and didn't work right and the toilet paper looked like it was lifted from the San Luis Obispo County Jail. The floors creak and the walls are paper thin - you will hear everything outside of your TINY room. There are some dusty books on the shelves for entertainment - you'll need them (I never thought that I'd actually pick up a copy of "Little Women") as there's no TV or radio - there wasn't even a clock, digital or analog, electric or windup (this is a basic need-to-have, no excuses). The "continental breakfast" consisted of lousy coffee (betting it was "Folger's"), some low-grade cut-up stale Costco pastries, a banana cut in two so it turned brown and some cereal. This sorry rendition of a continental breakfast is inexcusable, especially since there is a French bakery right down the block. The only thing that this place has going for it is it's central location within the town of Cambria. Needless to say, I cannot in good conscience recommend it. I did have a nice experience at the wine bar across the street, they were quite hospitable and informative, referring us to a nice restaurant down the block (across from the French bakery).
