Wouldn't stay anywhere else
There are so many good things to say about this place, I hardly know where to begin. First, the decorating is charming. I feel like I've come home when I get there. Then there is Sue, the manager, who makes me feel completely welcome. She is relaxed and always ready to help. The location is perfect, just half a block from the T, or a couple of blocks from a taxi stand. And the village of Brookline is teeming with wonderful shops.
I usually prefer a private bath, but here I feel that the shared baths are always clean and convenient.
My only problem with the Marion is that sometimes I have to travel on the spur of the moment and it's full! Then I invariably have to stay somewhere a lot more expensive and with a lot less character.
Oh, and did I mention that the building is old enough to feel like you are staying in a historic site? And it has been done up to suit its period.
I really wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Boston or Brookline. I have a son who lives in Alston and it's easy walking distance.
P.S. My husband stays there too, and he is even pickier than I am.
