My husband & I decide to take advantage of a long weekend and visit Savannah. We were excited about our stay at the Hilton, and looking forward to the experience. We were very surprised that the service was "good" at best. Most of the time the valet, concierge service and front desk staff were rude. When not rude, they were nasty nice. It was as if we were bothering them with every question. For example, we needed to know how to get to the military base. The front desk staff begin to explain (w/o taking a breathe or allowing time to write it down). She said do have it, and I said no. The people in the line laughed, and she said, "O.K., where did you get lost" - being very sacastic!
We couldn't use our key to park and when pushed the button, the gentleman yelled "VALET". We explained that we could get out or in and after asking the same questions again and again, we were told to go back to the front desk and they would rekey our key. We explained that there were cars behind us and that we could back-out. ONLY then would they open the gate thingy!
It's wet and rainy outside, and it would have been nice to spend the weekend in the hotel and have the experience of "southern hospitality". We still have 2 nights here and I wish we could get our money back. The Country Inn or Hyatt was calling my name!
The area sounding the hotel is extremely beautiful and you feel the history. It's unforetunately that the service isn't better. Get it together Hilton or change your name.
