A five star hotel? You must be kidding!
Upon several recommendations online we booked this hotel for our spring holiday. I could almost tell it was a disaster when we arrived in the lobby, not much going on there. Nice staff, but really dreary decor. At first look in our room we were stunned that this hotel had 5* rating. The upholstery was worn and dated, the carpet was ripped right down the middle of the room. The beautiful balcony was furnished with a couple flimsy plastic chairs. I was totally shocked to see the fake marble in the baths complete with plastic tubs and the cheapest toilet seats ever made. There was nothing luxurious about this place.
The access to the slopes was difficult at best. The hotel does not provide shuttles to the lifts and one must secure a taxi each time you depart.
Oh, and be sure to bring your earplugs, there are some late night bars across the street that close around 2 or 3 am with voices carrying right up through the windows.
I cannot understand how Conde Nast rates this as one of the best hotels in the world. Truly shocking. It is just fine... bed linens are up to date and felt clean, breakfast was OK, but that's about it. I would give 3 stars only. They need to dump some serious money into this hotel for it to ever look or feel like a 5 star!
