I took my family to the hotel on a 'Gold Leaf Package' deal. It was an excellent value for the low cost. The hotel is beautiful, and transportation to & from the Disney parks is excellent - very little waiting on either end. No need to rent a car if your just doing the Disney Parks. Some hints:
The hotel sticks to the check-in time of 1500 pretty firmly, but you can check your baggage and go to a park if you arrive early. Remember that the package deal gives you 4 days of passes, but you can extent the pass for a $4.00 per extra day fee (so no reason not to use it as soon as you get there).
Off-season operating hours of the hotel's eateries vary, so its tought to get a late night meal there - the sports Bar is open until midnight for pizza though.
Buy the book "Disneyworld Passporter" before you go - it has great info on anything you might do, and has great tips for getting the most out of the hours you spend at the parks.
We decided not to burn ourselves out, so we ate breakfast at the hotel (good simple buffet food), got to the Parks by 0930 and came back in the early afternoon to swim, nap or just relax. That way we were refreshed for going back out to the parks after an early dinner (the Gold Leaf Package gives you 4 days of meals - 2 per day - at the hotel, a very good setup.)
I truly recommend this deal for any family that can take advantage of it - our room was a standard and was oversized compared to other hotels, big enough for 3 people not to feel crowed.
