OK hotel & location - staff could do with a course in hospitality skills ...

Half decent location - relatively quick walk to downtown SF, even if it is past a few daunting characters on the way. I stayed for several days with friends and family. The rooms were ok if a bit small and dated. I went away for a few days and checked back in when i returned. I was given a larger room in the front of the hotel, with no windows but locked doors onto a very shaky looking balcony (i understand why the doors were locked!)That made the room very stuffy and it was pretty noisy with traffic outside and between rooms. The staff were the least appealing aspect of the stay. They were generally abrupt and unwelcoming, it seemed a chore that they were being asked to do their job. When they were being someway helpful, they were frustratingly slow. The waiting staff were impatient with children and the bar often chose to close before its advertised time, even with guest seeking a drink. Night security were also rude and sometimes had an aggressive tone - TO GUESTS! - that was when they were even evident around the hotel. All I can say is it is an OK hotel and location for what you pay. Though would be improved with some much needed updating. The staff let this place down. Both times I have stayed there, the staff and not the facilities have caused the frustration. This was relayed to the management. I put the first experience down as bad luck, the second time I now know it is just poor staff attitude. I will not be returning to this hotel the next time i'm visiting SF. For those who do choose to stay there, I hope the staff have bucked up since my stay!
