Okay, the rooms aren't HUGE, but that's part of the Italian experience. However, the breakfast was better than I experienced at other hotels in the area and the staff was more than helpful and very kind. The location is difficult to beat; especially if you plan on taking the train to other destinations, are looking for the most reasonable priced area in town, and if you want to located close to many main attractions (including the daily open air market). I would return to this hotel over and over, if they always had rooms available...which can be the problem if you're not booking in advance, especially in the summer months. If you stroll up the street, towards the city center, you'll find my favorite restaurant, Guido's. I eat there at least twice whenever I'm in Firenze and when you're walking back up to the hotel, there's a great bar on the corner (can't recall the name) that has great ice cream and ice cold beverages (a great thing in the hot summer months!). There are many places in the city center that are horribly overpriced, but not HERE. I ALWAYS stay in this area, you just can't beat it! Not only because the price is right, but the history that the shops and homes in the area exude. There's also a bar right outside the front door of the hotel where you can find drinks and snacks and really nice folks. You'll never want to leave Florence once you've experienced this neighborhood. La Vida Bellisima!
