My boyfriend and I go to school in Santa Cruz, and one day, we decided we needed a break from the college life and spend a night in San Francisco. Being broke students, the pickings were slim, unless we wanted to stay in a run down motel in the Tenderloin. But I chanced upon this lovely hotel shortly after my search began, and the high rating and cheap price sold me. I booked, and a few weeks later we were there.
And for the price, it was pretty great. It was an old hotel, but quaint, lovely architecture and furniture. It smelled kind of musty, but I'm weird and love that smell. The staff was friendly, and our room was very nice. I guess they were having a slow weekend, because we signed up for the room with only a queen size bed, but they gave us the super nice room -- the one with a kitchenette and a huge bathroom. It was fantastic! It was right in the heart of downtown -- we only had to walk a couple of blocks to get to something interesting. My boyfriend and I will definitely go there again, when we need another break from college.
