The only true redeeming quality is the beach
We loved the beach and the local feel of the neighborhood. This is not a touristy area so if you want to do anything other than hang out on the beach you will need a car. The closest grocery stores are within 3 miles. Public transport is on the main road outside.
We really didn't like that the owners lied about the unit. It was not a one bedroom, it was a studio. It was not a new condo as stated either. There was no couch only an old uncomfortable futon that was terrible to sit or sleep on. I would have bought a blown up mattress if we had to sleep on it. The bed was good though. The renovation job was poor to say the least. The kitchen cabinetry was falling apart, half the outlets in the unit didn't work, the screen door was falling off and very hard to open/close, and the hot water tap in the bathroom was very hard to use. I wasn't a huge fan of all the tiny ants and spiders all over the counters much of the time in both the kitchen and bathroom. The cockroaches were no joy either.
The building is poorly constructed so you can hear EVERYTHING. The neighbors TV, conversations, bathroom flushing, sink usage, people walking by the unit and the street traffic. Oh yeah, the high speed wireless internet was a joke as well.
I would recommend this place if the beach is the only real reason you've come to Hawaii. If you wish to spend any time in your rental unit be prepared to rough it though. For almost $600/week I expected a little more.
