The low point of our wedding
Our wedding took place at the Wayfarer Inn in mid-May. We stayed in one of their bridal suites for two nights, and family stayed in two average-sized rooms for three nights.
There was no hot water in our guests' rooms on the morning of our wedding -- they ended up showering in our bridal suite! Every employee and manager we talked to had a different story as to the cause and expected resolution time.
The cleaning crew never came by to pick up the used shower towels, they were still there the next day when we left. This was despite three (!) calls to the front desk in which we were told every time that someone would be up soon.
After complaining about the hot water issues my grandmother-in-law was given a partial refund on her rooms. Upon arriving back home she found that after the partial refund was given, she was re-charged the full room rate. On calling the hotel the manager was confrontational and accused her lying. After *three* hours the manager finally realized the hotel's mistake and corrected the problem.
There were ants and other dead bugs in one of our bathrooms.
Because this is primarily a travel site I won't go into too many details on our wedding-related issues, but here's a short list in order to deter potential couples from booking with the Wayfarer Inn:
They didn't order (and therefore didn't serve) our entire desert course, they served the wrong salad course, all of the other food was either cold or inedible, they needlessly rearranged our carefully laid-out table settings, they constantly made careless mistakes and misrepresented their services, our reception room leaked, questions were responded to with an air of disdain (if answered at all), the menu changed twice, they overcharged multiple times. There was a distinct lack of communication. We had to hassle them to get our final contract and finally got it days before the event.
We felt that, aside from declining standards, the root of many of these problems were cruddy management and a lack of communication between departments. Any time we talked to an employee or manager we felt that we were told whatever would get us to walk away the quickest.
