We just got back from a 5 night stay at a villa inside the Amelia Island Plantation resort. It was a true pleasure. We have four children ranging from 6 to 16 years old. All four children enjoyed themselves. The lttle ones were taken fishing by the Nature Center staff. The older kids rode around on a golf cart we rented and had a blast.
The ocean/beach is beautiful and private. We never saw more than ten people on the beach. The pools were nice and well maintained.
We stayed in a very well appointed villa with a golf course view. Very comfortable beds.
Internet connection (wireless) was only available in the Hotel lobby and conference center, each a few minute's walk.
The resort has a confusing layout but that is some of the fun. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Drawbacks: Occasional odor from irrigation system. Resort food was generally overpriced and not great. We did enjoy the meals we had at the Marche Burrett (sp?) restaurant among the shops.
