We keep coming back
The Truckee Hotel is old, and they dress it up so it looks like a fancy old parlor. The floor creaks under your feet and the floors are not entirely level -- but it's all about the charm. The beds all have beautiful quilts on them. You feel like you're in your Grandmother's guest bedroom when you step into your room. The place is heated with steam heat that hisses and knocks about in the middle of the night. There is no elevator and the climb to the 4th floor is helariously steep. The 3rd and 4th floor are priced for the climb (cheap) and the bathrooms are down the hall. The 2nd floor has bathrooms attached to rooms, but they're much more expensive. We love this place -- it's a true find for a skiier who doesn't want to pay the Tahoe price in Tahoe.
