No manners, don't go.
Review excerpt
We heard rumours about Hosal Boquete that it had 'gone down hill' since the natives who opened it sold it to two Americans, and they were right on the mark. At first glance they are wonderful and polite (if a bit dull) but it became clear that they have no interest in Boquete or its people (not even the vibrant ex-pat community) and instead are here for the money and an easy life.
We arrived on Novemeber 2nd (the beginning of a week of national holiday) to find Boquete packed out and not a room anywhere, so David, one of the owners offered us a dorm room for $22. Short on facilities, but a welcome shelter from the rain, we took it. The next day Richard, the other owner informed us we could move to a double room with private bathrrom for the rest of our stay at $33 per night. Too expensive, but necessary to watch CNN's American election coverage for that night on the private TV.
That morning we left for Spanish class and returned to find David tell us there had been a 'reservation mix-up' and that he had sent the cleaner into our room to clear out our stuff which was in reception in black bags. When my partner went into the room to check for any remaining belongings, she found 3 girls (for one room!?) who we believe simply offered to pay more than us...as why would 3 girls book ahead to share one bed?
David compensated us by taking us to there 'new hostel' which was a mile out of town (Boquete is tiny), damp, filled with mosquitos and not much else. The showers were cold, there was no linen on the beds and before we had a second to complain he was back in his jeep and off to God knows where...needless to say we left the next morning without saying goodbye, and without a couple of items of clothing which had been lost when we were helped out of our room. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. There are many better hostels in town that are not in the Ba-Lonely Planet.
