Review title
They Lied To Us!
Review excerpt
We had been referred to the Pepper Tree Inn by a friend and read so many wonderful reviews online that my husband and I decided to go to this hotel on a romantic getaway. Now under new management and called the "Alcazar", we booked this resort for two primary reasons: QUIET and ADULTS ONLY. Not only do they specify on their website that this is a place that "Practices the Etiquette of Tranquility" and "is an Oasis of quiet and privacy," but the company CLEARLY STATES in its reservation requirements that this is an ADULT ONLY resort and that you must be ATLEAST 21 TO CHECK IN. Well, within 2 hours of checking into this beautiful, remodeled and very tranquil resort, a FAMILY OF FIVE WITH TWO TODDLERS (ONE STILL IN DIAPERS!) came down to the quiet, "adults-only pool" with floaties & toys and proceeded to open up a PORTABLE PLAY PEN NEXT TO THE POOL! (A playpen next to the pool? What is this, a trailer park?) We were LIVID. The management told us there was nothing they could do, despite our repeated attempts to show them their own verbiage on their website and on their reservation contract. After an hour of our relentless complaining, they begrudgingly booked as at their sister hotel for the same introductory rate we had received at Pepper Tree/Alcazar... but only after we were fit to be tied. Thank goodness for our new favorite resort, The Colony Palms, who welcomed us with open arms and gave us the tranquil, elegant, couples getaway that we had been hoping for. If we had wanted to stay at a family resort, we would have booked the Holiday Inn or Hyatt hotel for much, much less. A word to the Pepper Tree/Alcazar: please do NOT advertise yourself as an "adults-only, tranquil resort" and then deliver the EXACT OPPOSITE.
