Wow! Lakeside, with a view

We stayed in one of the "Standard" suites -- a huge room complete with entry foyer, large bathroom with twin sinks, enormous bedroom, and large living room. The furniture is new/old 1950's style (read ugly) but in perfect condition -- and it puts you in the Tito mood right away. In addition to the excellent room rate (even in high season), we were offered a one hour boat rental for free at the hotel's private dock - the next day, when we returned hoping to rent a boat for a bit longer, the hotel staff again offered it to us for free - for almost two hours. The private "beach" is really a deck overlooking the lake - but the towel/cafe service and helpful staff made even that charming. We ate dinner (fixed menu at 27 EUR) and breakfast on the terrace overlooking beautiful Lake Bled. This hotel is a MUST-DO in Slovenia, if not in all of Europe. One of a kind. Don't be scared off by the 1950's den-style lobby!
