I wouldn't put my EX Mother-in-law up here!!!!
Well, there were just so many phenominal things about this place that I just don't know where to start; NOT!!!!
It was supposed to have been a nice relaxing eve w my husband in celebration of our Anny. We walked into our room (KY Cave) and were overwhelmed by cigarette smoke; we are both smokers, it was just that bad. The carpet was filthy, the filter had what looked like 10 years worth of hair and dust build-up on it, you cldn't even see in the mirror due to the thickness of the cigarette smoke, and the counters looked like they hadn't been wiped since the room opened! I go to complain...they were nice enough to "upgrade" us to a dffrnt room.
Walk into that room and it's about 95 degrees. Of course we want to salvage this event, so we decide to turn lower the A/C and go on to dinner. Surely it would be cooler later, right? Came back to the same temp room (we like it cool); the thermostat was on 66, but the room was still 95. I take the cover off the A/C and it's covered with frost. Ok, chances are that this could be the reason this particular room "suddenly just became available". Maybe it's in the actual 'thawing out mode, maybe it just needs another hour or so, we'll go to the pool'. We get to the pool, along with about 20 unsupervised and out of control children. Tiles off the pool, pool floor SLIMEY. We're in the pool all of about 3 ms when hubby says let's just try the hot tub. Get to the hot tub and what should be adults only (17+), accdg to the big 2' x 3' metal sign attached to its entrance gate, had 10 teenagers in it with their stuff strewn all around. Nope, no longer interested in that, either. Get back to the room, still hot. In the room's defense, it had only been about 15 minutes since we were in it last. We'd alrdy tried to make the best of a not so good situation, what else can we do?! So, I call up to the frnt desk and ask for this lady who'd been witness to all my exchanges with them. During the 10 ms. I'm on hold awaiting her assistance, my hubby discovers stains & dried food on the table; layers of dust, hair, and grime on the dark wooden floors; stains on the 25 year old couch (yea, I know....); dirty shower walls and hair in the trap; and an area rug by the bed that was so dirty it looked like soot from a fireplace. Finally a voice on the phone. A 'gentleman' reassures me that the A/C just needs to be reset and here's what I need to do to do so. Nope, guess what, I just paid $300+ for this room for the night; it's disgusting, discouraging AND you want me to do the work of your on-site paid staff? I lost the one remaining marble I had left at that point. We gathered our things and proceeded to the counter. At first I was trying to not cause a scene in front of other potential guests, but they quickly escalated me to the point of not really giving a crap any more. Somehow, the front desk "wasn't allowed" to issue me a credit bc they didn't have the authority (whatever)..I'd have to take it up with their GM. I decided to make a personal visit on Tues. Turns out the GM wasn't in at the moment, even though he'd just been transferred a call 10 seconds upon my entering the bldg. I waited for 30 ms for his return b4 I left. The GM (Chris) finally called me and explained to me that I'd received a full refund to my credit card and he didn't know why his staff couldn't take care of me. He wanted to send me a $50 gift certificate in hopes that I'd come back and give them another try; HA
I gave them a 2 on service b/c I did actually get a refund (although it's yet to show up on my c.c.), and location because it's actually only 7 miles from my house, BUT since I couldn't rate service and value at a zero, they get the lowest.
If you have money to burn and/or don't care about your hygiene then I say go for it. Personally, I'd recommend you take your $ somewhere that's going to show you they're honored to have you as their guest.
You don't always get what you pay for, sometimes you get more!
