Not worth the money
Review excerpt
We stayed in the Pousada on March 1, 2007 for my husband's 60th birthday. The low season price was 156 euros which included breakfast. There was only a standard room available--our room (101) was small with two twin beds pushed together. There was one small window and only 3 additional lights, so the room was very dark. The bathroom was on the larger side for Portugal hotels, but the sink was quite small with no place to put toiletries. Our door was difficult to lock from the inside (it kept popping open) and the noise in the hall as people passed by was quite obvious. There is a lovely restaurant at the top of the pousada, although expensive. I toured another hotel which I would recommend instead of the pousada, also inside the city walls. It is Casa das Senhoras Rainhas--only 4 years old--and the rooms are very well appointed (although not large), bright with good lighting, an honor bar, restaurant with outdoor terrace and an elevator which would be a blessing--the low season price is 144 Euros. The steps up to the pousada are daunting unless the visitor is in good physical condition and there are no elevators anywhere. Eat at the pousada and stay at Casa das Senhoras Rainhas.
