Great value & old world charm

Nice place, not institutional like the big chains. Breakfast set out on each floor in the morning. Good restaurants very close. Nice walk up to Grace Cathedral or down to Moscone Center. Super location on the south side of Nob Hill. Gives you a feel for the part of San Francisco where people live. Not touristy.
The rooms I stayed in had very small showers, like 28 inches by 30 inches. But how much time do you spend in the shower? Might be a problem for large people. Might want to ask if they have rooms with larger or handicapped bathrooms.
No great views. No free wifi. Cable TV not crystal clear.
I have stayed here a number f times over the last 12 years and have never been disappointed. Certainly not the Ritz, but a super personal experience. Cozy antique elevator. Worth every penny.
