The Best August on the Vineyard in years.
The reason it was the best was because we were thoroughly happy with our location of our accommodation, the innkeepers that provided us with all the great information for us to do the things we wanted to do and for the ease at getting to and from around despite the president being there on the island.
We owe a huge amount of gratitude to the innkeepers, Jynell and Jeff Kristal, who we peppered with questions about everything from dinner reservations, town politics, places to see and things to do and hidden out of the way spots that they readily provided us with time and time again. Without them, the vacation would have been totally left in our hands and I am quite sure we would have butchered just about everything and chosen the wrong places to eat of simply over looked some of the places they sent us. I saw what they did and it was impressive.
Jynell and Jeff didn't just take a cookie cutter approach to telling everyone what to do, where to eat and where to go. They listened and really knew their audience and then suggested a few places and didn't just send everyone to one place. It was great seeing them and hearing them in action.
You will be happy if you stay here at the Crocker House Inn. You can see their past lives as Marriott hotel employees kick in time and time again. It's not your run of the mill bed and breakfast but these two actually have some love behind their actions.
The location is perfect. It is a few feet from town and a few more feet from the ferry landing but so located on a nice quiet street so waking up was on your own accord and not some loud horn. Coffee every morning, an amazing breakfast each morning and the best chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon.
Some interesting facts we learned while there were some of the people that stayed in the Inn, like Ted Kennedy, Linda Hamilton from terminator fame and Miles from Murphy Brown. Jeff got to meet the President and has a picture to prove it. All in all it was good conversation whenever we were around with everyone at the Inn.
We can't wait to return, this time for a longer visit.
